Acrel Secures Major Prepaid Power Meter Renovation Project for Pakistan Shopping Malls

Acrel Co., Ltd., a leading provider of energy efficiency management and electrical safety solutions, has successfully landed a large-scale prepaid power metering renovation project for shopping malls in Pakistan, in cooperation with Electrify Solutions (SMC) Pvt. Ltd., a renowned local group company and authorized distributor for top brands such as Chint, BYD and Huawei. The project covers a total of 3,500 measurement points and marks a significant breakthrough for Acrel’s prepaid power solutions in the Pakistani market, with follow-up expansion plans already confirmed.

Project Background & Customer Demand

The cooperation originated from the 2025 Canton Fair in April, where Electrify Solutions (SMC) Pvt. Ltd. expressed a strong demand for the prepaid power renovation of its shopping mall projects in Pakistan. The customer aimed to replace the original Schneider products with a more integrated and intelligent energy management solution, covering 3,100 shop units and 400 office spaces within the mall.

Notably, the mall’s power supply system features a hybrid of municipal power, photovoltaic power and generator power, requiring the solution to support accurate energy measurement across multiple power sources. The customer also has clear technical requirements, including a 120ms response time for power generation side measurement and support for 80A current access for single-phase meters, while needing to collect electricity fees and service fees from tenants based on actual power consumption.

Project Cooperation Process: From Technical Negotiation to Customized Delivery

The cooperation between Acrel and the Pakistani customer has gone through a rigorous process of technical communication, on-site visits, sample testing and customized development, with key milestones as follows:

  1. April 26, 2025: After the Canton Fair, Acrel invited the customer to visit its microgrid research institute and production factory, and conducted in-depth technical discussions on the solution. Based on the customer’s differentiated needs for single-phase and three-phase metering, Acrel recommended the ADL100-EYNK and ADL300-EYNK prepaid power meters paired with AWT gateways, which perfectly met the technical indicators required by the customer.
  2. August 20, 2025: After three months of continuous communication, the two parties confirmed the tenant fee collection method—on-site cash payment at the mall counter, with administrators uniformly adjusting the balance on the cloud platform. The customer purchased sample products including ADL100-EYNK, ADL200-NK and AWT100 for hosting testing on Acrel’s IoT platform, laying a solid foundation for the formal cooperation.
  3. October 27, 2025: The customer visited Acrel’s Shanghai headquarters, where engineers demonstrated the full functions of the IoT platform’s prepaid module and solved the technical problems encountered during the sample testing phase. The customer placed an official order on site, purchasing ADW300 power meters, Rogowski coils and ADF400L-6H energy analyzers for energy consumption monitoring at the mall’s main incoming lines and power loss calculation.
  4. December 15, 2025: The customer made a second visit to the Shanghai headquarters to review the project progress and discuss follow-up cooperation plans. The two parties confirmed the Phase II project to be launched at the end of March 2026, with an additional order of 2,000 single-phase prepaid power meters. The customer also plans to promote Acrel’s solutions in other prepaid projects such as shopping malls and apartments in the second quarter of 2026. In response to the customer’s personalized needs, Acrel’s R&D team held a remote meeting to carry out customized development, including a service fee collection interface, a visual view interface, a function to directly print charging records on the platform, and the addition of WhatsApp payment and usage reminder function adapted to the local Pakistani market.

Core Competitive Advantages of Acrel’s Solution

Facing competition from local brands such as Chint (which offers lower-priced prepaid meters), Acrel won the project by virtue of its integrated hardware and software solution advantages, which is the key reason for the customer’s choice:

  1. Intelligent Cloud Platform Management: Acrel’s self-developed IoT energy management platform provides one-stop functions including real-time power monitoring, prepaid balance management, fee collection and statistical analysis, realizing centralized and efficient management of the mall’s 3,500 measurement points, which is far more comprehensive than the single hardware product of competitors.
  2. Highly Customizable Services: Acrel’s R&D team can quickly respond to the customer’s personalized needs, such as customizing the service fee collection interface and adding WhatsApp reminder functions, fully adapting to the local payment habits and communication characteristics of Pakistan.
  3. Superior Technical Performance: The selected ADL series prepaid meters and ADW300 energy analyzers meet the customer’s strict technical requirements of 120ms fast response and 80A large current access, and support multi-power source measurement (municipal/photovoltaic/generator), accurately matching the mall’s complex power supply scenario.
  4. Complete Product Ecosystem: Acrel provides a full set of products from terminal metering equipment (prepaid meters) to communication gateways (AWT series) and cloud management platforms, as well as energy consumption monitoring equipment for the main lines, realizing the whole-process energy management of the mall from the main incoming line to the terminal tenant.

Project Significance and Market Prospect

This Pakistan shopping mall prepaid power renovation project is a typical case of Acrel’s energy management solutions going global, especially in the South Asian market. It not only verifies the high adaptability of Acrel’s products and platforms to the personalized needs of overseas markets, but also lays a solid customer foundation for the subsequent promotion of Acrel’s prepaid solutions in Pakistan’s commercial real estate sector including shopping malls and apartments.

With the launch of the Phase II project and the expansion of follow-up cooperation, Acrel will further deepen its layout in the Pakistani energy management market, taking the prepaid power metering business as a starting point to provide more local customers with integrated, intelligent and customized energy efficiency management solutions, and help the digital and intelligent transformation of Pakistan’s commercial and residential energy supply systems.

Acrel will continue to adhere to the concept of "innovation-driven, customer-centric", and continuously optimize its overseas product layout and customized service capabilities, striving to create more value for global customers with high-quality energy management solutions.
