Acrel ADW210 Multi‑circuit Meters
Deployed for Burger King Restaurant Energy Retrofit Project in France
Retail Chain Energy‑efficiency Renovation|France Overseas Project
Field commissioning of electrical distribution cabinet at Burger King restaurant, Paris region
Acrel has completed a large‑scale chain‑restaurant energy‑monitoring cooperation with Brio Energy, a professional French system integrator. The project targets hundreds of Burger King restaurants around Paris, implementing refined sub‑metering and predictive maintenance for kitchen & store‑front electrical loads, to improve energy efficiency and reduce operational costs for retail catering chains.
Project Background
Brio Energy won the project through international bidding, searching for reliable multi‑circuits energy meters with external current transformers. Before the renovation, each Burger King restaurant only had a main incoming power meter. Operators could not acquire power consumption data of individual equipment, such as lighting, ventilation, deep fryers, ovens and refrigeration cabinets. Without branch‑circuit energy data, it was difficult to carry out energy optimization and equipment predictive maintenance.
Main Technical Challenges
- Limited internal space inside original distribution cabinets, requiring compact DIN‑rail multi‑loop measuring devices
- Measuring points are scattered, cable distance between different circuits can reach 6‑8 meters
- Some kitchen loads run under very small operating current
- Demands for basic harmonic measurement to support equipment predictive maintenance
- Data needs to connect and upload to Brio Energy's self‑developed cloud platform
Acrel Solution
After technical communication and sample testing, the customer selected ADW210‑D10‑4S and ADW210‑D16‑4S multi‑circuit energy meters, cooperating with AWT100‑CEHW LoRaWAN gateway, together with Milesight LoRaWAN gateway for data uplink.
ADW210 Multi‑Circuit Energy Meter with Split‑Core CT
AWT100 LoRaWAN IoT Gateway for Data Uplink
Multiple ADW210 meters installed in restaurant distribution cabinet for branch‑circuit monitoring
✅ ADW210 Multi‑circuit energy meter
- Compact DIN‑rail installation, saving cabinet space
- Support split‑core CT, measure tiny current down to 0.02A
- Harmonic monitoring for predictive maintenance
- RS485 Modbus‑RTU data output
✅ AWT100‑CEHW LoRaWAN IoT Gateway
- Collect meter data via RS485
- Transmit data over LoRaWAN protocol
- Flexible adaptation for third‑party cloud platform docking
Field commissioning and sample validation were finished during Mar‑Jul 2025. Batch purchasing for 60 stores started in Oct‑Nov 2025. Another 30 restaurants were ordered in 2026, with further 30 sites to follow.
Project Benefits & Value
Refined energy data collection
Real‑time reading for lighting, ventilation, fryers, ovens and cold‑storage equipment, no manual meter‑reading.
Predictive maintenance
Harmonic & power data identify abnormal equipment, reduce kitchen device breakdown risk.
Cross‑store KPI benchmarking
Compare energy‑use indicators between sites, locate high‑consumption points, guide energy‑saving retrofit.
Third‑party system integration
Hardware seamlessly connects with Brio Energy cloud platform without heavy custom development.
Future Business Outlook
According to the cooperation plan, more than 50 new restaurant sites will be upgraded every year. Based on the successful Burger King implementation, Brio Energy intends to promote this Acrel multi‑circuit sub‑metering solution to other famous European catering retail brands, including McDonald's and KFC.
Drawing on mature experience from chain retail projects (such as Lawson convenience‑store energy‑monitoring cases in China), Acrel provides complete hardware selection, sample testing, remote online technical support and third‑party platform docking services for overseas integrator partners.
